《21世纪大学英语第二册》教学大纲
本门课程的教学目标和要求:培养学生具有较强的阅读能力、一定的听、说、译、写的能力,使他们达到《大学英语课程教学要求》中一般要求:听力理解能力能听懂语速为每分钟120词左右的英语国家人士的谈话及讲座,掌握大意。阅读能基本读懂英语国家大众性报刊、杂志的一般性题材文章。书面表达能在半小时内写120字左右短文, 内容完整,文章通顺。大学英语教学应帮助学生掌握良好的语言学习方法,打下扎实的语言基础,提高文化素养,培养学生语言运用能力、交流信息能力,以适应社会发展和经济建设的需要。本教学的预期目标,阅读能力应达到四级水平,写作应达到中级水准。
教学重点和难点:本册中应掌握的词汇量约1000个左右,四级词汇约700个左右,常用的固定搭配、短语、习语、成语等共200个左右。课文的内容解析、掌握和应用,了解作者的写作目的及行文的结构方式。听力特色教学,学生上机自主学习,教师辅导。

Unit 1
Winston Churchill -- His Wife (4学时)
教学目标和要求:本文是一篇人物传记,反映了人物的一个侧面。课文以回忆的方式讲述了英国首相丘吉尔生活的另一面 —
艺术生活、绘画给他带来的欢乐与希望。在文章中出现的拟人手法使描写生动形象,能给读者留下深刻的印象,着重培养学生的语言技能。

教学目标和要求:本文讲述一个在美国受教育的越南姑娘成绩出类拔萃,由此引出许多美籍亚裔学生比美国本族学生出色的现象,并分析得出对于勤奋的信念、对于父母的思恋使得亚洲学生学习努力,使同学们从中受到启迪,美国应该借鉴亚洲人的做法,适当调整对孩子的要求、态度以及学校的结构,使之更有效的培养人才。帮助学生领会课文及培养学生的写作技能。
